Platinum status has been the most revered recognition in the private club industry since the franchise was established in 1997 by John R. Sibbald. Over the years, with input from the Club Leaders Forum Advisory Board, the Seven Selection Criteria have been updated to be relevant and adapt to changing times in the industry. Platinum status is awarded in five categories: Country Clubs, Golf, City, Athletic and Yacht Clubs.
The Seven Selection Criteria
The Seven Selection Criteria for Platinum Clubs of America are recommended, frequently reviewed, and approved by the Club Leaders Forum Advisory Board. Club General Managers, Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officers who are members of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), Presidents and Owners are directed to consider the Criteria when casting their votes. The Seven Selection Criteria form the benchmark of Excellence and Best Practices in the Private Club Industry.
